Hey guys, it has been a while on the here’s to health segment but I am back!!!!!! Today, I will be talking about home remedies to pimple redness. As we all know, teenagers get acne or pimples at some point. Some of the contributing factors include hormonal changes in the body, an unhealthy diet, improper skin care, use of harsh cosmetics and excessive sweating. Though pimples are a part of life for many, the swelling and redness they bring can make the problem even worse. The redness of pimples indicates a reaction to bacteria, inflammation as well as skin irritation. Also, the likelihood of pimples becoming red increases if you squeeze or pick them, or scrub your face too hard. Preventing pimples or fighting acne, reducing pimple-related redness and irritation is easy with some simple remedies. I will be sharing five home remedies with you.
CUCUMBER
Cucumber is a well-known anti-inflammatory agent that helps reduce inflammation and swelling. Its astringent nature works by restricting the blood vessels in your skin and lessening the redness. Its soothing nature is also beneficial during pimple outbreaks.
How to use
- Cut a cucumber into thin slices. Chill the slices in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
- Place a slice over the site of the pimple. Once it warms up, replace with another cool cucumber slice.
- Do this for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.
- Repeat this remedy several times
LEMON
Lemon has natural healing and skin-lightening components that help combat redness associated with pimples. It also contains citric acid, which helps fight bacteria responsible for pimples and other skin break outs.
How to use
- Soak a cotton ball in freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Press the cotton ball against the affected area for 5 minutes
- Then, rinse your skin with lukewarm water
- Repeat 2 to 3 times a day.
Note: after applying lemon juice, avoid going out in the sun for about an hour
MOIST TEA BAG
Tea contains a good amount of tannins that help reduce swelling, hence beneficial in reducing the redness caused by pimples. The warmth of a moist tea bag when applied onto the affected area will also open the pores, potentially drawing bacteria or pus to the surface, thus treating your acne.
How to use
- Dip a tea bag in warm water for 1 minute and remove it.
- Allow it to cool down a bit, then squeeze the excess water out
- Place the warm tea bag on the pimple and allow it to sit for a while
- Then rinse your skin with cold water and pat dry with a clean towel.
- Repeat the process several times a day.
ASPIRIN
Aspirin contains a salicylic acid, which can reduce redness and inflammation caused by breakouts of acne or pimples. Salicylic acid offers anti-inflammatory effects by suppressing an enzyme responsible for inflammation. Another bonus is that aspirin helps dry out pimples quickly.
How to use
- Crush 1 or 2 aspirin tablets into a fine powder. If you are worried about the aspirin drying out your skin too much, you can add a little honey as well.
- Mix enough water into the powder to form a paste.
- Apply the paste on the affected area using a cotton swab
- Allow it sit for 20 to 30 minutes
- Finally, rinse off the paste using lukewarm water
- Use this remedy 2 times a day.
COLD COMPRESS
Using a cold compress is one of the best ways to reduce pimple redness. The cold temperature helps contract the blood vessels underneath the skin, which in turn minimises the pimple’s appearance and redness. It will also help calm irritated skin and shrink the size of the pores to accelerate the healing process.
How to use
- Wrap some ice cubes in a thin towel.
- Gently rub the compress on the affected area for 1 minute
- Take a break for 10 minutes
- Do it as many times as required.
Note: Do not apply ice directly on the skin. It can cause frostbite and damage skin cells.
I hope this helps us. Have a great day ahead!!!!!!!!!!!
