Hey you fearfully and wonderfully made lady. How are you? How have you been? I do not know if you are aware, but it is International Women’s Day, today. Happy International Women’s Day (which I am going to be referencing as IWD going forward lol).

Prior to writing this I did not know how this day came about, but thanks to google – the lineage of the celebration can be traced back to 1908, when 15,000 female workers marched in New York City as they sought more humane working hours, better pay and right to vote. And now it is celebrated worldwide and for you! (people have different takes on where it started, you can look it up!)

You have fought a lot of battles, yes? Right to vote, right to speak, you have a come a long way. Cheers to all the women that have gone ahead to pave the way and set the pace.

Today, being IWD, I want to write a letter to you. Let’s talk.

To the little girl, welcome! You have got to stand firm and be assertive, keep your head held high, refuse to be boxed in, and do not conform to stereotypes of any kind. If you would tap into the reserve in you, you would blow the minds of people. The sky is only the starting point. Rooms are waiting for your intellect.

To the young lady, you are enough! Your value is found in God not in anybody. Your worth is found in God and certainly not in what people think about you. In essence, you are solely validated by God. People are always going to have opinions about you, but what does God say about you? Use your youth to serve the Lord. Do not allow anyone pressure you into doing anything. Whatever that may be, premarital sex or pressure into marriage, you are on nobody’s clock. Tour the world, read books, expand your mind, grow businesses. Think outside the box. Carry out projects. Do the undoable and leave them awed!

To the older lady, married or unmarried, well done! You are doing a good job. You are validated. You are seen. You have so many young girls looking up to you, so thank you. We see you; we appreciate you.

To all the women in the world, doing big things in a small or big way, good job! You are seen. You are strong. You are able. You are enough. Do not let the world define you. Do not let your circumstances define you.

No one does it like you, ladies. Cheers to the married, the unmarried, the old, the young, the single, the housewife, the working class. Cheers to the monthly cycles, cheers to pregnancy and postpartum, cheers to the lady parts. But you are so much more than these. Do not live a life of competition with the same sex or the opposite sex. You are unique and you are here for a purpose, that only you can fulfill. God looked at the world and said the world needed one of YOU.

The theme for this year’s IWD is #choosetochallenge. Choose to challenge yourself, choose to challenge stereotypes, choose to challenge, and see change.

What does God think about you? Who is a woman after God’s heart? There are so many powerful women in the bible that we can study and emulate. The following are some verses from the bible about YOU:

“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.”

“She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.”

“She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.”

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

“And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”

“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.”

“She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

Dear woman, I appreciate you and I love you. You can accomplish so much especially with God with you.
